THE SCENTS OF LOCKDOWN
THE SCENTS OF LOCKDOWN:
What scent did you miss most during lockdown….?
Was it the pungent vanilla of popcorn from the cinema closing its doors? or was it the scent of the seaside, tropical sun lotion, sunset walks on the beach promenade….?
Or was it the full on summer haze of a music festival – the closeness of other people, the swell of musicians coming close to create some magical music…?
Or was it the scent of a glamorous party that you missed?
Coiffed hair, champagne glasses tinkering, best frocks and high heels…the scent of an amazing event about to unravel….
No doubt the lockdowns have had a profound effect on us, but on no other more exceptional area than our sense of smell.
So much so that Tessa Williams has recently created a new series of Scents that evoke the scents we missed from Lockdown.
Together with esteemed London Perfumer and Author, Sarah McCartney of 4160 Tuesdays she has created a fascinating Trilogy of 3 Scents that perfectly evoke the Lockdown era.
One of the saddest times in our history has been immortalised by 3 beautiful uplifting and decadent scents.
WARM SANDS / BLUE OCEAN
Sun lotion on warm skin, a hint of vanilla and coconut ice cream, a soft ocean breeze and soothing musks.
An exuberant scent that reminds one of afternoons on a perfect sandy beach on the bluest sky days.
DANCING WITH STRANGERS
The title was inspired by the fervent party goers of the Black and White Ball of 1966 organised by Truman Capote where hundreds of masked party goers packed into the Plaza Hotel in New Yorkand thousands clamoured for an invitation.
A classic lipstick and powder, rose and violet fragrance, with twists of white flowers, entwined with honeysuckle. It invites you to dance till dawn in its gentle embrace.
DANDELION MUSK
The timely scent of a Summer music festival.
A summer meadow, set for a musical stage.
Notes of wildflower meadows, geranium, chamomile, rose and green leaves, swirling over a low beat of intoxicating musks.
Tessa and Sarah began working on the scents during the second lockdown,
Created at Sarah’s atelier in London and with Tessa being based in Scotland it was sometimes challenging to meet between the vastly changing schedules and restrictions for travel. Trains and planes were missed and just caught but the joy in creating the scents has been a triumph.
Sarah McCartney founded her own company 4160 Tuesdays in 2011.
Her fragrances have been nominated for three Fragrance Foundation Awards, and she has won the Eau MG Readers Award for Best Indie Fragrance House, and Best Indie Fragrance.
THE THREE SCENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON TO BUY SEPARATELY AND IN A TRIO…..
